Advent Scripture reading Day 1. Sunday Nov 29th
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

As we light up the Peace Candle on this first day of Advent, I pray God will fill you with His perfect peace, calm your hearts and help you bring the focus on Him.
Let us pause and meditate on this verse-Philippians 4:7 (NIV) 'And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.'
Due to the pandemic, most of us will be having a quieter Christmas this year - no family gatherings - no Christmas shopping - no end of year/Christmas dinner parties - no Christmas rehearsals at Church. Even though we do need to be still from time to time, we might feel that we got too much of 'being still' lately and unfortunately, all this quietness has brought feelings of sadness, loneliness, anxiety and even depression. In 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV), it says 'Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you' - Our Lord and Father cares for us and knows what we are made of. He knows our strengths, our weaknesses and He knows all we went through this year, whether because of the pandemic or not. Let us humble ourselves before Him, and let His Holy Spirit guide us through this Christmas season.
Reflecting on the humble King born in a manger!
Jesus humbled himself when He came to us as a baby, showing us a lot about humility. This Christmas season, let us seek God and ask Him to show us more about this humility.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls
