Ask Emma Anything Moment | Part 3 | Intentional Care
Question: If you could turn back the clock 20 years, what would you do differently?
Emma’s Answer:
If I could turn back the clock 20 years, I would be more intentional about taking care of myself, emotionally, mentally and physically.
I would set healthier boundaries with people and situations that drain me, and say yes more often to my dreams, passions, and projects.
I also think I would have gone back to school earlier to broaden my knowledge, strengthen my professional expertise, and invest more in my personal and professional growth.
Looking back, I understand how easily we can put our own aspirations on hold while fulfilling our responsibilities and being there for others. Yet, making room for ourselves and the things that bring us joy is just as important.
A Bible Verse from My Heart
“For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church.”
— Ephesians 5:29 (KJV)
Emma’s Note:
To nourish and cherish ourselves means recognising that we, too, deserve care, attention, and kindness. We can spend so much of our lives caring for others and showing up for them that we sometimes forget to show up for ourselves.
As mothers, we often remind our children to take care of themselves, pursue their dreams, and recognise their worth.
But do we demonstrate those same principles in our own lives?
Our children are watching us. By taking care of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, we can show them that caring for ourselves and caring for others can go hand in hand.
One of the greatest lessons we can teach our children is to live out the very values we want them to embrace.
From My Heart to Yours
You matter, too. Make time for your dreams, nurture your well-being, and give yourself permission to grow.
And to all the moms out there, remember: you don’t have to neglect yourself to be a good mother. Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It is also a way of showing your children that their well-being matters and that they, too, deserve to be cared for.
Blessings,
Emmanuella
