If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!

Exactly four weeks ago, as I was spending some time in the word, praying and waiting to hear from God, I felt led to listen to some songs by Zach Williams. I was going through a difficult time and was earnestly seeking God's face, to understand the situation I was in. I had a lot of questions for God and I remember that at some point I just sat down on the couch and started scrolling through YouTube.

Being a worship leader, scrolling through songs on YouTube was not a new thing for me to do, but this time it was different. I didn't really know what I was looking for.

The first song I listened to was Less like me. It was my first time hearing it, and right at that moment, something changed in me. Even though the confusion in my mind was real and I desperately wanted to have answers, I stopped asking myself all sort of questions, and just wanted to be more like Jesus, and less like me.

'He must become greater; I must become less'. John 9:30NIV.

The next ones I found were recorded live from Harding Prison, situated in Nashville, Tennessee. As I listened to a few of them in a row, I just could not contain my tears. The lyrics spoke directly to my heart, and when I saw the prisoners' reaction while attending the live performance, I was deeply moved.

If you've got pain

He's a pain taker

If you feel lost

He's a way maker

If you need freedom or saving

He's a prison-shaking savior

If you've got chains

He's a chain breaker

Above are the lyrics from the chorus of the song Chain breaker. As I was listening, I wondered what kind of feelings came rushing in their hearts as they heard these words. These guys were literally in chains, were found guilty of a certain crime and were sentenced to imprisonment. They have been deprived of their freedom because of what they did, and even though what they did was wrong, I do not think that being there was easy for them. But they stood up, they sang, they lifted up their hands, and God was among them working in their lives.

After listening to all these songs, I felt that God wanted to deliver me of some sort of bondage in my life. I was not be in the same condition as these inmates, but He wanted to remind me that He is the way maker, the chain breaker, and whatever it is I was going through, He has the power to deliver me. I started with a lot of questions and a feeling of confusion but at the end of my little adventure, I felt stronger, encouraged and loved.

I'm no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God I'm no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God

I am surrounded

By the arms of the Father

I am surrounded By songs of deliverance

We've been be liberated From our bondage

We're the sons and the daughters Let us sing our freedom

My dear friends, as we celebrate Easter this year, I pray you will experience the freedom that Christ has for you. I do not know what you are going through right now, but if you feel that something is preventing you from living in Christ's freedom, well whatever it is, He has already overcome it on the cross.

I pray blessings on you and your family!

May the Lord bless you and keep you;

The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace!

Amen!
