Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. Jesus, the perfect sacrifice.

It is finished.
Right before He died, Jesus' final words were 'It is finished'. I cannot imagine how much pain the disciples, his mother and all those who loved Jesus have felt at that very moment He died. But even though distress and darkness was all around, God's unconditional and unchanging love was shining brighter than the brightest star. 'In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome.' John 1:4-5NIV
