Love That Transforms
“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13
As we enter the season of Advent, we are reminded of God’s unfailing love—the very foundation of our faith. Advent isn’t just a time of anticipation; it’s an invitation to reflect on the love that came down at Christmas through Jesus Christ.
Daily Reflection
This week, our Advent calendar focuses on how love moves us closer to God and each other. Love is not just an emotion; it’s a choice and an action.
Day 1: God’s love for the world reminds us of His sacrifice (John 3:16).
Reflection: God’s love is the foundation of our faith. Reflect on how you can show love to others.
Action: Write down three ways to express love to those around you today.
Day 2: Loving our neighbours calls us to extend kindness (Mark 12:31).
Reflection: How do you demonstrate love to your community?
Action: Perform one act of kindness for someone unexpected.
Day 3: Love in action challenges us to serve and forgive (1 John 3:18).
Reflection: True love is seen in deeds, not just words.
Action: Volunteer or help someone in need today.
Day 4: The Greatest Commandment. Love above all. (Matthew 22:37-39).
Reflection: Loving God means putting Him first.
Action: Spend extra time in prayer and worship today.
Day 5: Perfect Love Casts Out Fear (1 John 4:18).
Reflection: Trust in God’s perfect love to overcome your fears.
Action: Write down one fear and pray for God’s love to replace it with peace.
As you light the first candle of Advent, pause and reflect: How can I live out God’s love today?
Worship Song Reflection: “Reckless Love” by Cory Asbury
“Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God…”
This song beautifully captures the relentless, pursuing nature of God’s love. It’s a love that doesn’t wait for us to be perfect or deserving—it finds us in our brokenness and lifts us up. As you listen to this song, let it be a reminder of how deeply God loves you. Let it inspire you to share that love with others.
Call to Action: Living Out Love
1. Start with Gratitude: Write down three ways you’ve experienced God’s love this year.
2. Share the Gift of Love: Do one unexpected act of kindness this week—a note of encouragement, a small gift, or simply a listening ear.
3. Pray for Others: Spend time praying for someone who might be struggling, and ask God how you can show His love to them.
A Prayer for the Week:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your unfailing love. Help me to see others through Your eyes and to love them as You love me. May my actions, words, and thoughts reflect Your love this week. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As we continue through Advent, take time to reflect on how love has shaped your life and your faith.
Let’s celebrate the greatest gift of all: God’s love made flesh in Jesus Christ.
With love,
Emmanuella
