“Journey of Light: An Advent Calendar of Hope, Love, and Peace” Week 5.

The Hope we have in Christ

“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him.” — Lamentations 3:25

As we enter the final week of Advent, we focus on the theme of hope. Advent has been a journey of preparation, reflecting on the love, humility, and simplicity of Christ’s birth. Now, as we approach Christmas Day, we celebrate the ultimate hope that Jesus brings into the world. His birth is the fulfillment of God’s promise to send a Savior, a beacon of light to a dark world.

Daily Reflection

This week, we are invited to reflect on the hope that Jesus offers—hope for our lives, our futures, and for the world.

  • Day 19: Jesus brings hope in the midst of darkness (Isaiah 9:2).

Action: Reflect on how you feel God’s presence in your life.

  • Day 20: Hope is a confident expectation of good because of God’s promises (Romans 15:13).

Reflection: Jesus cares for us like a shepherd for His sheep.

Action: Write down ways God has guided you this year.

  • Day 21: Jesus is the anchor of our souls, offering hope that is steadfast and sure (Hebrews 6:19).

Reflection: The birth of Jesus is good news for all.

  • Day 22: God’s Plan Fulfilled (Galatians 4:4-5).

Reflection: God sent Jesus at the perfect time.

Action: Reflect on how God has worked in your life this year.

  • Day 23: The Lamb of God (John 1:29).

Reflection: Jesus takes away the sins of the world.

Action: Spend time in gratitude for Jesus’ sacrifice.

  • Day 24: The Gift of Eternal Life (Romans 6:23).

Reflection: Jesus is the ultimate gift.

Action: Thank God for His love and promise of eternal life.

  • Day 25: Rejoice, the Savior is Born! (Luke 2:11-14).

Reflection: Celebrate the birth of Jesus with joy and gratitude, and spend some time reflecting on Jesus as our Savior as well.

Action: Spend time worshipping and praising God for the gift of His Son.

As we celebrate Jesus’ birth, let us hold fast to the hope that He is the light that overcomes the darkness of the world.

Worship Song Reflection: “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”

“O come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel…”

This classic Advent hymn echoes the longing of God’s people for the Savior. It speaks of waiting in hope for the coming Messiah, who will bring peace and salvation. As we listen to this song, let it remind us of the hope that is fulfilled in Christ, and how we are called to share that hope with the world.

Call to Action: Embracing Hope

1. Look for Hope in Everyday Life: This week, take time each day to look for moments where you can see God’s hope at work in your life and in the lives of those around you.

2. Share Hope with Others: Reach out to someone who may be struggling, and offer them words of hope and encouragement.

3. Reflect on God’s Promises: Spend time journaling about the promises of God that bring you hope.

A Prayer for the Week:

Lord, thank You for sending Jesus as our ultimate hope. May we hold fast to the hope that He is the light in our darkness and the answer to every longing in our hearts. Help us to share that hope with those around us, and to trust in Your faithfulness as we wait for Christ’s return. Amen.

Final Thoughts:

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, may this final week of Advent deepen our anticipation of His return. Let us reflect on the incredible hope we have in Christ and let that hope transform how we live and love.

With love,

Emmanuella
